Built by a structural engineer
Automate residentialwood framing
Generate complete residential framing layouts in minutes instead of repetitive manual drafting — the first module of an engineering automation platform, built from real residential structural production work.

The difference
Manual drafting vs. Structomation
The same ceiling-joist bay, drawn two ways — dozens of clicks, labels, and dimensions by hand, or a single automated pass.
For this one framing task — a single ceiling-joist bay — roughly 10 minutes by hand versus 5 seconds with Structomation.
Structomation removes the repetitive drafting — engineering judgment and drawing review stay with your team.
Wood framing modules
Every framing system, production-ready
Residential wood framing is Structomation's first module — each part of the drafting automated, laid out, labeled, dimensioned, and takeoff-ready. More structural modules are on the roadmap.

From architectural plan to construction documents
Structomation automates the repetitive middle of the workflow — the same path, every project, start to finish.
Receive architectural plan
Reference the architect's plan and set the drawing scale — you're ready to frame over it in minutes.
Project setup
One step establishes the framing layers, text style, dimension style, and unit standard for the whole team — the same standard on every project.
Generate roof framing
Rafters at true sloped length on every plane, with hips, valleys, and ridges solved from the pitch.
Generate ceiling framing
Joist bays laid out at exact spacing, inset from the walls, labeled, and dimensioned across the floor.
Generate engineered members
Headers and carrying beams — lumber or LVL — sized, tagged, and placed over every opening and span.
Generate slab-on-grade foundation
SoonPost-tensioned layouts, piers, and tendons — the same automation, arriving in a future release.
Generate material takeoff
The drawing becomes purchasing data: pieces, board feet, waste, and cost — CSV or an on-drawing schedule.
Engineering review
Every member is placed by a person and stays fully editable — ready for your engineer's check, never a black box.
Issue construction documents
Production-ready, on-standard, and takeoff-ready — issued with confidence.
Traditional workflow
≈ 6–8 hours
Structomation-assisted
≈ 1.5–2.5 hours
A typical residential framing package, from initial framing layout through construction drawings.
Actual production time varies based on project size, company standards, revisions, engineering review, and project complexity.
Live sandbox
Build a plan, right here
A guided visualization — frame the floor and run its takeoff, then switch to a dedicated roof sheet with a true hip-roof layout. Not a CAD engine; a taste of the real thing.
Ready to begin
This interactive sandbox demonstrates a typical residential structural drafting workflow.
Start by selecting Generate floor framing from the panel.
Each step progressively builds the drawing, just like a real production workflow.

Why firms choose Structomation
Built to move drafting off your team's plate
Less drafting, more engineering — and more completed framing packages with the team you already have.
Complete more projects
Complete more residential framing packages without adding drafting hours to every project.
More capacity, same team
Increase drafting capacity without hiring additional drafters or engineers.
Less repetitive CAD work
Reduce the member-by-member line-work that consumes senior drafting time on every project.
Standardized drawings
Every drafter works from one identical layer, text, and dimension standard, firm-wide.
Consistent production drawings
Members are placed, labeled, and dimensioned the same way on every bay, every sheet, every project.
Built from real practice
Designed from real residential structural drafting experience, not a generic parametric tool bent to fit.
Let engineers engineer. Structomation handles the repetitive drafting.
Compatibility
Runs in the CAD you already own
No need to change your current workflow. Structomation is native AutoLISP — it loads into the CAD your firm already licenses and works with what you already have.
Works with
- AutoCAD
- DWG workflow
- Existing company standards
- Existing plot styles
- Existing layer standards
Structomation was built after hundreds of hours spent producing residential structural framing drawings.
The goal was never to replace engineers.
The goal was to eliminate repetitive drafting so engineers can focus on engineering decisions, coordination, and delivering better projects.
Capacity calculator
Time saved becomes engineering capacity
More time recovered means more projects, higher capacity, and higher revenue potential — with the team you already have. Drag the sliders to estimate.
Your firm today
Estimated additional capacity
With the same team, you could potentially complete approximately 13 additional residential projects each month.
Monthly drafting hours

Est. annual labor savings
$54,000
Potential additional revenue capacity
If your firm uses the recovered drafting time to complete additional projects, the potential business value may exceed direct labor savings.
Same team. More completed projects.

FAQ
Questions engineering firms ask
The practical questions a firm owner or CAD manager asks before a demo.
Yes — it's native AutoLISP for full AutoCAD 2013 or newer (including AutoCAD Architecture), and it's portable to BricsCAD, GstarCAD, and ZWCAD. AutoCAD LT can't run AutoLISP, so it isn't supported.
